Amy Landecker cast in Doctor Strange!

With less then a year tills its release Marvels Doctor Strange has officially gone into production. Despite the fact the film is already began filming Marvel are still adding to an impressive cast that already includes Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game, Star Trek Into Darkness, The Hobbit, Sherlock), Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, About Time, Spotlight), Tilda Swinton (Adaption, We need to talk about Kevin, Moonrise Kingdom), Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, Hannibal) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, The Martian).

The Wrap is reporting that Transparent star Amy Landecker has been added to the cast in an unknown role. Landecker has recently found success in Amazon Primes exclusive series the Emmy Award winning Transparent where she plays Sarah Pfefferman. The show is about to return for its second season on December 11th.

Landecker has had multiple film roles in the past including in recent years in roles such as Project Almanac and Enough Said. She is about to appear in Lorene Scafaria’s The Meddler opposite Susan Sarandon and Hunters Prayer opposite Sam Worthington.

Marvel’s Doctor Strange will be directed by Scott Dirrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Deliver us from Evil) and tells the story of neurosurgeon Dr. Steven Strange  (Cumberbatch) after being involved in a horrific car accident, discovers the world of alternate dimensions and magic. The comic book film will be scripted by Jon Spalhts (Passengers, Prometheus).

Considering how impressive the cast is Doctor Strange could either be a huge success or a massive disappointment. Judging by the success of Ant-Man this year and Guardians of The Galaxy last year Marvel taking risks and exploring unique lesser known characters has so far been a massive success. Time will only tell if Doctor Strange can follow suit.

Marvels Doctor Strange is scheduled to hit cinemas November 4th 2016.
