Today CBS and The CW officially announced that Grant Gustin would guest star as The Flash in an episode of Supergirl that will air Monday, March 28th, confirming that a crossover will happen between the two hit shows. It also confirms that Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl does exist in the same universe as The Flash and Arrow.
Supergirl and The Flash executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg had previously said that crossing over the two was more challenging then the Arrow-Flash crossover because Supergirl aired on CBS whilst Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow all air on The CW. In Order for this to happen it would have required both networks to sign off on it. Well it appears they both have.
So far they have just announced that Grant Gustin is appearing on Supergirl, however it is a safe bet, they will cross over the other way with Supergirl appearing on The Flash at some point in the near future. Below is the announcement from Berlanti and Kreisberg.
“We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we starting making ‘Supergirl’ – ‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’ are teaming up! We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. And finally thanks to the fans and journalists who have kept asking for this to happen. It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone’s enthusiasm and support.”
Not much is known about the episode so far, however i’m sure more will be revealed in weeks to come. Are you excited about this news? Let us know in the comment section below.
