In an update on FX’s planned X-Men TV series Legion, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed the cast for the proposed series, and there are some big names announced.
The TV series is to be based around David Huller, son of Charles Xavier (Professor X) as he comes to terms with his new visions. Dan Stevens who is best known for work on Downton Abbey will play Huller.
Also cast in the new show is Aubrey Plaza who will play Lenny a friend of David’s. Getting Plaza for a show like this is huge get for FX, her previous work includes, Parks and Recreation and films such as Safety Not Guaranteed, The To Do List and more recently Dirty Grandpa.
Also announced among the main cast is Jean Smart as Melanie, a character that is described as a ‘Nurturing, demanding therapist’. Smart is best known recently for her work in TV series Fargo.
The show’s pilot is being written and directed by Noah Hawley whose previous work also includes Fargo. Hawley will also serve as executive producer alongside Lauren Shuler Donner (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Wolverine), Bryan Singer (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Superman Returns), Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Martian) and Marvel’s Jeph Loeb (Agents of SHIELD, Daredevil) and Jim Chory (Daredevil).
