Since Disney acquired lucasfilm many have speculated what would happen with Lucasfilm’s other franchise Indiana Jones. After the lukewarm reaction to Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull it seemed the franchise was dead but since the Disney purchase there had been rumours of a reboot with a new actor taking on the famous role with reports of Jake Gyllenhaal, Bradley Cooper and Chris Pratt interested.
It appear this is not the case however as Harrison Ford may once again wear the fedora one more time. Director Steven Spielberg was in an interview promoting his new film ‘Bridge Of Spies’ with Tom Hanks and during that interview Spielberg was asked what is it about Tom Hanks that he keeps working with him.
Spielberg replied “We’ve gotta figure this out because now, Tom is tied with Harrison Ford: Harrison and I did four movies, Tom and I have done four movies. Now i’ll probably do an Indy 5 with Harrison, (so) it’ll be five for Harrison, four for Tom. I’ve got to make another with Tom, that’ll be five for Tom, five for Harrison. And i think i’m going to leapfrog that way for the rest of my career. With Daniel Day-Lewis in everything else” he joked.
Kathleen Kennedy hinted a few months ago in an interview that a fifth Indiana Jones film would happen eventually but with Harrison and Spielberg returning would be surprise. Unknown if George Lucas would return aswell, i would think it would be unlikely, but who knows if Spielberg would do an Indiana Jones film without him.
