After earning $178.5M domestically and $231.5M internationally it will surprise no one to hear Marvel want to revisit Ant-Man. And today they confirmed it by announcing a sequel to the summer blockbuster set for July 6, 2018.
The Sequel titled “Ant-Man and the Wasp” will feature a bigger role for Evangeline Lily’s Hope Van Dyke as she takes up the role of The Wasp as teased by Ant-Man’s mid credit stinger. Paul Rudd obviously and Michael Douglas are also expected to return.
Marvel also Announced 3 untitled films set to released May 1st 2020, July 10th 2020 and November 6th 2020 to join the already packed Phase 3 line up. These announcements have meant a reshuffling of Phase 3’s schedule with Black Panther now being moved forward to February 16th 2018 and Captain Marvel moved forward to March 8th 2019.
Phase 3 was already set to feature sequels to Thor: The Dark World, Captain America Winter Soldier and a 2-part sequel to Avengers: Age Of Ultron aswell as new franchises in Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange and eventually The Inhumans and Spider-Man reboot.
The packed Phase 3 is set to kickstart with Captain America: Civil War set to hit cinemas May 6th, 2016.
