Power Rangers reboot casts its Red Ranger!

Ahead of filming set to begin in the new year Lionsgate are slowly beginning to announce the cast for the Power Rangers reboot. Following the announcement that Naomi Scott had been cast as the Pink Ranger, Lionsgate have announced via Instagram that Dacre Montgomery will play the Red Ranger in the reboot.

Montgomery was said to have beaten out Michael Hope from The Descendants, Aaron Butler from The Shannara Chronicles and  K.J. Apa from Shortland Street to the role.

Be interesting to see what direction Lionsgate decide to take this film a mature take on the kids franchise would be interesting. However that seems unlikely following everything we have heard about the project.

Power Ranger film is set to be released in 2017 and is to be directed by Project Almanac director Dean Israelite.
