Following lackluster reviews and failing to make enough money to warrant a sequel. Last years Terminator Genisys appeared to be dead on arrival. However after making $138 million overseas there appeared to be some hope that the planned sequel would still happen.
Unfortunately Paramount finally have put the final nail in that coffin, officially removing the film from its planned release date of May 19, 2017. Instead Paramount will be releasing Baywatch on that date starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Zac Efron.
It is unknown what is next for the Terminator franchise. By 2019 the rights are set to revert back to creator and original director James Cameron, so Paramount completing this trilogy in time is now highly unlikely.
