Weekend Box Office: Spectre rules supreme in US & Peanuts also opens strong.

Both Spectre and The Peanuts Movie opened strong in their US opening weekend estimates. Spectre is estimated to have a opening weekend  of $73 million, which would make Spectre the second highest opening weekend earner of the Bond franchise with its predecessor Skyfall being first opening at $88 million.

Animated film The Peanuts Movie  based on the Charles M. Schulz comic strip ‘Peanuts’ opened at 2nd place with $45 million, which is an impressive haul for a animation that opened against a James Bond film.

Both opening films knocked The Martian of the top spot in its 6th week opening in 3rd place at $9 million. Goosebumps and Bridge of Spies round of the top 5 highest earners of the weekend each making $6 million respectively. Below is the rest of the top 21 earners, according to Box office Mojo.
